Ever since my work had given the sales people our own smartphones, I've been trying to find a way to get my work email from their exchange server and my Google Contacts & Calendar from another. Ever since ActiveSync 4, support for multiple exchange servers was disabled -- however, there is a way to get around all of this
without having to install any third-party software onto your phone.
After a lot of digging, googling, and
crying hair-pulling, I finally came across a solution that worked for me.
1. Edit Your Registry
There are a few different programs that allow you to edit your Windows Mobile phone's registry. I personally use
CeRegEditor. Install your chosen application to your PC, and connect your phone to the PC via USB. Once you open the registry editor, connect to your device and navigate to the following registry key, and then change the DWORD value to 1 (it should be set to 0 by default):
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\ActiveSync\EnableNonLocalCrossPollination]
2. Get a Free NuevaSync Account
Head over to
NuevaSync, and sign up for a free account. The free version will allow you to sync your calendar to and from Google's servers, as well as your contacts from Google or Yahoo. They do offer a premium service that gives you IMAP/Gmail Push Sync service, more calendars and many other features, however, the free account will work for our purposes.
After signing up, you will receive an activation email from NuevaSync. After you click the link and login, you will be taken to the "Status" page. Click the "Change" links next to "Calendar" & "Contacts" and select your provider. It will redirect you to the provider asking if you want to grant access to NuevaSync. Select "Grant Access".
3. Configure NuevaSync Exchange Server
Open ActiveSync
on your phone (it will not work if you're connected to your PC), and select "Menu > Configure Server". For the server address, use
www.nuevasync.com, and select "Next". On the next screen, enter your user name and password. NuevaSync does not use the "Domain" field, but on my phone, a domain is required. If that is the case for you, just enter anything you want, and select "Next". Select the services you want to sync. It is important that you
do not select "Email", as you will not be able to set up your email server if you do.
4. Configure Your Email Server
This is going to be a little different than your usual exchange server setup, as you will not be doing it from ActiveSync. From your Today screen, select "Messaging" under the "Connections" tab, and then select "Setup E-Mail". Enter your user name & password, and select "Exchange" as your server type. Save your settings, and you're finished!
At this point, it doesn't appear possible to have more than one Email account setup through an exchange server. If anyone has a workaround for that, it'd be great to know. If you have another email account that you want to use, you may be able to set it up via POP or IMAP, although I haven't tried to do so yet. I may attempt this with my Gmail account in the future, and I'll be sure to post my results.

I hope this tutorial has been useful, and I would be interested to hear how it has worked out for you. Please feel free to share your experience in the comments section below.
As far as I'm aware, this error occurs if you enable email on the first exchange server. They only allow one mail exchange server, and once that is set up, you can't set up any other exchanges. I hope this helps!
1. Set up your Google exchange with NuevaSync as shown...do not enable your gmail yet
2. Set up your MS Exchange server with email
3. Set up a POP3 server with your gmail info, which can be found under the Settings section in Gmail.
That should allow you to get your Google Calendar, Contacts etc, your work email (or whatever email's on the other exchange server, and your Gmail all in Windows Mobile
Edit: I no longer have a Windows Mobile phone so I can't really experiment myself. But I'm thinking this should work...
I really wanted 2 exchange account on my Samsung SGH-i600 with update WM 6.5 for a long time(just as my colleagues with their Iphones)
Now Microsoft ceases MyPhone, I really need a good alternative to backup.
I did it as following: (no need for 3rd party like NuevaSync)
- Start from scratch (Yes, you really have to delete all existing email accounts and exchange bindings) All my contacts and calendar items were gone after this, so backup is really necessary! (I used the MyPhone backup. Restore works as long as you don't have any ActiveSync setup on an item like contacts or calendar.)
- Set the settings as above in registry
- Setup ActiveSync with Gmail.
server: m.google.com
sync only: contact and calendar
- Make new email account via email account wizard and choose 'exchange' as provider
- I set checkmarks for: email and tasks only. (I don't want my personal contacts in my business exchange account.)
- Add another email account for my Gmail account through the 'add email account wizard'(this is an imap4)
I still have my business calendar Items in my phone, because I always accept appointments through email on my phone.
Thank you again.
p.s. The only possible drawback is that the sync schedule of both accounts is the same. (there is only 1 setting for it in ActiveSync)
